Souks

I can't believe these are the only non-blurry pictures I have from the souks :( Most of the shops had "no photographs" signs so I had to sneakily take pictures on my phone.

Here are some tips for your visit to the souks:

  • Bargain! This is a really obvious one but the sellers call the prices really high so what Modupe did for me was to call a really low price so that we, as the buyer and the seller could meet in the middle.
  • Keep calm. I think this was the hardest thing for me. There's just so much stuff so you have to keep calm and decide on what you really want. Also, it's really easy to get lost here and there are so many people around that you might find it a bit overwhelming. Remember to keep calm!
  • Gather your information. A lot of the items that you'll see in one shop will be quite similar to those of another shop. Since they're not all the same, I'd wait until you have seen a good range to decide. For example, I wanted to get some Moroccan tiles so every time I saw a shop that sold tiles, I had a good look at them and carried on searching. There was such a huge range but after seeing many of them, I decided I wanted to get some white and blue ones. If I hadn't seen all the choices, I don't think I'd be as happy with my purchase. I definitely would've regretted buying the first one that I liked.

I'm planning on doing a separate post on what I got from Marrakech so look out for that!
